A brief History of St Paul's
Welcome to a short history of St Paul’s Ginninderra Anglican Church, whose history goes back to one of the earliest churches in what is now the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
The original St Paul’s Ginninderra church was a simple, wooden building where worship services were held from about 1861 and closed in 1902 when the local population had drifted away, particularly toward the village of Hall.

St. Paul’s Ginninderra was re-established in 1973 to serve the suburbs of Spence, Melba, Florey, Evatt and McKellar.
The rectory for the parish is located in Sharwood Crescent, Evatt where the original St Paul’s Ginninderra church and its cemetery were located.
The most recent location of St Paul’s Ginninderra was in a leased section of Mt Rogers Community Centre (the former Spence Primary School) until the end of 2024.

Throughout its life, St. Paul’s Ginninderra endeavoured to nurture adults, youth and children in a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and encouraged people to discover and exercise their Spiritual gifts, with a strong emphasis on outreach programs, engaging with local communities and missions.
In 2025, the parish of Ginninderra amalgamated with the parish of Charnwood to become the Hope Ginninderra Anglican Parish, and our activities continue in St Barnabas church, Charnwood and St Michael and All Angels church, Hall.
