The beginning of Lent will be marked by Ash Wednesday services on 18 February at 8.30 am at St Michael and All Angels in Hall and at 7.00 pm at St James at Holt. Parishioners of both parishes are welcome at either service. The service at Hall will be a service of Holy Communion with imposition of ashes. The ashes of burnt palm crosses from previous years are used to mark a cross on the forehead or the back of the hand to symbolise repentance, humility and awareness of our mortality.
